Andrew Farquhar's Biography

Andrew Farquhar is an Edinburgh Medical school graduate who emigrated to Canada in 1975.He worked for 3 years in the Arctic and there developed a passion for, and honed his skills in, photography. Now retired he travels extensively in order to pursue his passion of creating images with impact.

His photos have been published in many magazines, including Canadian Geographic, Canadian Gardening, Canadian Wildlife, Canadian Airlines in- flight magazine, Wardair in- flight magazine, North/Nord, Doctors Review, Madeleine, Popular Photography, Photolife, New Zealand Home and Garden, and multiple calendars, including a cover for The National Geographic Traveler calendar. He has won many national and international awards, including Photo Life Grand prize, Canadian Geographic Grand prize and Image International Hong Kong Grand prize. He has published photo essays on rafting the Tatshenshini river in BC, climbing desert dunes in Namibia, shooting Hong Kong, the Galapagos Islands and the Camargue area in Provence.
